Coronavirus Response: Information and Resources
Christ our God, Healer of Our Souls and Bodies

On Friday, March 20, the Governor of Illinois issued a "stay-at-home" order in response to the rapidly developing crisis of the COVID-19 pandemic. Taking into consideration this and similar orders in the various civil jurisdictions in which our Diocese is present, Archbishop Paul of Chicago and the Midwest suspended public services in all diocesan parishes until such a time as civil restrictions would ease. Of course, liturgical prayers and supplications continued to be offered to God on behalf of all of the faithful and the whole world in our churches, albeit behind locked doors and with a minimal number of helpers present. Taking now into account loosened restrictions in the State of Illinois, and in accordance with the guidance of the Holy Synod of Bishops of our Church, our Father and Archbishop has given us his blessing to celebrate the divine services with no more than ten people present, so long as adequate social distancing can be maintained. Details regarding this process and its implementation have been sent to parishioners and regular attenders via email. For any inquiries or concerns, please contact the parish rector, Fr Esteban Vázquez, at the following address:
In these extraordinary times, it is of paramount importance for each of us to remain connected to the Church's life of prayer, and to continue to offer supplications and thanksgivings to God for ourselves, for each other, and for all the world. To this end, Fr Esteban has prepared abbreviated forms of the Great Vespers and Typika services to pray at home on Sundays and Feasts, which are posted below. These abbreviated services, which take at most about 20 minutes to read from beginning to end, provide us with prayers to offer in common even while we are temporarily apart. In addition to (but not in place of!) offering up these common parish prayers as individuals or as families in union wth the services being offered at church, you are warmly encouraged to view the regular live broadcasts of the divine services from the Orthodox Monastery of the Transfiguration in Ellwood City, PA for your edification and consolation.
"Above all things," St Paul reminds us, "put on love, which is the perfect bond of unity" (Colossians 3:14). Continue to pray for each other, and reach out to each other during the challenging weeks ahead: we are one in Christ, and members of One Body!

O God Almighty, Lord of heaven and earth, and of all creation visible and invisible: in Thine ineffable goodness, look down upon us, Thy people gathered in Thy holy Name. Be our helper and defender in this day of affliction. Thou knowest our weakness. Thou hearest our cry in repentance and contrition of heart. O Lord, who lovest mankind, deliver us from the impending threat of the coronavirus. Send Thine angel to watch over us and protect us. Grant health and recovery to those suffering from this virus. Guide the hands of physicians and preserve those who are healthy. Enable us to continue to serve our suffering brothers and sisters in peace, that together we may glorify Thy most honorable and majestic Name: of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, now and ever and to the ages of ages. Amen.
